Hi! I’m Natural Gourmet Chef Laura, otherwise known as Laura Gibson. I’m a graduate of the “Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts”, in New York City. I also interned at Candle 79 and Candle Café, which are two of the top vegan restaurants in NY. Before NY, my love for cooking and baking began when I was about 8, cooking with my mom. My mom was/is an exceptional cook and baker, who learned from her mom, and then taught me. She is to thank for my love of cooking and baking and my introduction into this great field!

 

 So what am I doing now? Well, I now have my own mostly baking business where I cater and take special orders for foods that are vegan, organic, and natural. I do decorative cakes for any occasion; cater special events, including wedding, birthday, and graduation; sell at a local farmer’s market each week; and provide special orders for pick up. I’m a vegan and natural foods person myself so I can guarantee that all my products are 100% vegan, made with super quality ingredients, are healthier versions, and amazingly delicious! Ordinary ingredients include whole grains, unrefined sugars (i.e. evaporate cane juice sugar, agave nectar, Sucanat, and maple syrup), sea salt, non-aluminum baking powder, and other organic and/or natural foods.
   

 

  At the age of 16, I started selling just a few items each week at my parent’s stand at a local farmer’s market. It slowly but surely grew. Then, I decided I wanted to have a culinary degree under my belt and use the schooling to expand my knowledge of food. It was off to New York City for a 5 month program (very fast pace schooling that taught a whole lot in a short time; it was extremely worth it). When I came back, I not only had an expanded knowledge of food and health, and a culinary degree, I also had a great vision for expanding my current baking business. I’m always experimenting in the kitchen, trying out new things, creating, and enjoying the new challenges that life brings. For instance, I’ve started making gluten and wheat free products for customers with allergies, and am now specializing in allergen-free foods.
